Scholastic Storybook Treasures DVD Reviews

Building upon the popular trend of babies learning to communicate by sign language, Scholastic Storybook Treasures has launched a new American Sign Language DVD series helping to jump start sign language learning for children ages 2 to 9.  I had the privilege of reviewing the newest release, FIVE LITTLE MONKEYS JUMPING ON THE BED... ANE MORE GREAT CHILDREN'S STORIES.  This fabulous dvd collection brings several beloved children's books to rich life with voice narration, sign language, and catchy musical scores.  The DVD also supports vocabulary, comprehension, and fine motor skills.  And, I must add that both of my kids love the rhythm, rhyme, and repetition of these fun stories.  This DVD set was just released on August 24th and is available at http://www.newkideo.com/ and retail stores nationwide.  We are excited to have this dvd set in our collection and are proud to say it's become one of our all time favorites!!!  Stories included on this dvd are Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, Little Quack, and There's Something in My Attic.

We were also blessed to receive the ADVENTURES IN SCHOOL DVD set!  This set was a perfect collection for us to watch as we prepared Mallory for school.  The 3-dvd set includes The Teacher from the Black Lagoon, Miss Nelson Has a Field Day, and Crazy Hair Day.  These 3 dvd's combine to bring you 14 stories that support cooperation, early reading skills, and problem solving.  As a childhood fan of the Miss Nelson books, I was thrilled to receive these dvd's for my children!!  The award winning stories are brought to life and are a delight to watch.  This collection is also available at http://www.newkideo.com/ and retail stores nationwide.

***Many thanks to Beth at Foundry Communications for this fabulous opportunity!!!  I received these dvd's for review purposes only.  No other compensation was received.  The opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Great Opportunity, but HURRY!!

Ya'll, I couldn't wait to tell you about this wonderful opportunity!!!!  One of my FAVORITE ways to make a little extra cash is by participating in surveys with Pinecone Research.  They are a reputable and trustsworthy company that pays $3 for every survey you complete.  It's a simple way to voice your opinion on new products and get paid for doing so.  I can't tell you how many $3 checks I've received in the mail from them.  They also offer a paypal option and will deposit your money directly into your paypal account.

If you are interested in this fabulous opportunity you can sign up HERE.  Pinecone Research is adding to their research panel so this is a wonderful time to check them out!  They rarely have openings, so if you're interested, take advantage of your chance to become part of their team!  Click HERE to apply and see what it's all about.

1st Day of School

Yesterday marked the end of our baby days and a brand new beginning for me and Mallory.  My baby girl is now a kindergartener!!!  It's unbelievable to me that only 5 short years ago I was holding her in my arms for the very first time.  She is growing into a precious little girl and I am so proud of her.  Yesterday was a day filled with excitement and anxiety for her and lots of tears for me.  But, we both made it through!  At the end of the day, Mallory ran to me and was so excited!  She loved her school, her teacher, and had already made some new friends.  Her enthusiasm helped me with my fears and anxiety tremendously.  I am confident that her teacher will take care of her, but more importantly I am assured that God is with her even though I cannot be.  He is in control and she will be ok.

Last week, Mallory and I went to the James Avery jewelry store.  I bought both of us matching silver heart charms.  Every day Mallory and I will wear our charms on our necklaces and be reminded of how much we love each other.  She's wearing her charm on the same chain with the angel charm Nana gave her for Christmas.  That way she can be reminded that I love her and she's Nana's little angel.  :-)  The first day of school, Mallory didn't think about her necklace, but today she told me she held on to it at one time when she was a little afraid and said to herself, "Mommy loves me. Mommy loves me.  Nana loves me.  Nana loves me."  That was precious to me today.  I have told her over and over that Mommy won't be able to be with her at school, but that God is with her at all times.  It was a wonderful teaching opportunity for me and she knows that she can call on God at any time and that He is always with her.  Thank you, Lord, for blessing us with two wonderful days of school!

Here are a few pics of Mallory's 1st day...

Nana made her precious zebra print outfit.  And of course little brother just had to be in the picture, paci and all!

I made her backpack and we got her little lunch box at Canton.

Circle time!

It was a great first day!  I'm just thankful I don't have to have another "1st day of kindergarten" for 4 more years!!!  Whew!!!

Meet the Teacher!

Yesterday, Mallory got to meet her teacher for the first time and see all the new friends who will be in her class.  We are thrilled to have Mrs. Frazier!  She has a reputation for being "the best" and "phenomenal", so we couldn't be more excited!
Mallory and Mrs. Frazier

Mallory quickly found the seat labelled with her name.

Mrs. Frazier gave each child an activity book and special pencil.  Mallory learned where the pencil sharpener is and how to use it.  There are so many things like that I didn't realize she wouldn't know how to do!  She quickly got busy with the activity book while I filled out some forms and sorted her school supplies.

When it was time to go, we checked out the cafeteria and library.  Mallory was enjoying herself so much, she didn't want to leave!  What a blessing for an apprehensive mommy!!!  Thank you, Lord!
It's going to be a great year!

Mallory's New Bible

Today at church, during Sunday school, all the 5 year olds who are about to start Kindergarten were given Bibles and a "big church" bag.  They had a sweet little ceremony where each child came up to receive their Bible and bag and then had a reception of cookies and lemonade.  Then, during big church, the pastor recognized all of the kindergarteners and made a point to welcome them to the service.  Mallory has been attending big church with us since she turned 4, but for most of the kids this was their first time in big church.  It was a really special day!!!
Mallory just received her Bible and bag... my camera would NOT work at the right time!  Don't ya just hate it when that happens?!?!

Mallory with her new Bible and big church bag - she is VERY proud!!  :-)

I am so thankful to belong to a church that places so much emphasis on children and is so dedicated to teaching them about God's love and His Word.  We are blessed!

One Tired Two-Year-Old and One Lucky Lady

Just had to share this precious picture of Jack.  He fell asleep in the car after lunch!  Don't ya love it?!?!

And, I am THRILLED to tell you that I've been asked to do another review for CSN Stores!!!!  WOO-HOO!!!  If you aren't familiar with CSN Stores, then sit back and let me brag on them for a minute or two!  Good golly, miss Molly!!  They are incredible!!!  CSN Stores has over 200+ stores all combined into one internet shopping experience that is 100% top notch!  They have furniture, housewares, bedroom furniture sets, children's toys, baby gear, cookware, rugs, and the list goes on and on!  I was first introduced to CSN Stores when I won a diaper bag giveaway on a blog.  I was immediately in LUV with them!  Their customer service is impeccable and their products are wonderful.  I've been the lucky recipient of two CSN Stores giveaway wins, but have also been blessed to host a giveaway for them as well as review a few of their products.  And now, as a CSN Stores Preferred Blogger, I get the privilege of doing another review.  Stay tuned to find out what I chose and hear all about it!  :-)

Free Entertainment

It's amazing how easy it is to entertain kids with free stuff.  You know what I mean - they like the box instead of the toy, they like the hotel swimming pool instead of the Disney vacation, and they like playing putt-putt golf at the sporting goods store instead of at the real Putt Putt place.

The past two days I've gotten to give my children two wonderful opportunities!  Yesterday, I had to go to Academy (our local sporting goods store) to pick up a gift card.  As we drove into the parking lot, Jack starting saying "boff boff".  I didn't realize what he was saying until we got into the store and he demanded I go "this way! this way!" over to the practice putting green.  He knew this was the place he had played "golf" with Mallory a couple of months ago when we picked up some golf balls for Brad's father's day gift.  So, the kids played "boff" for a few minutes and had a grand time!

Today, while in Toys R Us looking for a birthday present for my nephew, Micah, the kids begged to play in the toy car area.  This time, Cousin Grant was with us, so it was an even bigger thrill!!!

Jack saying "CHEESE" while driving his Escalade!!  He got in this car and never got out!  :-)

Grant and Mallory in the hot pink Cadillac!

Love their grins here - they were really having so much fun!

Checking out the Jeep's dashboard.

And rockin' to the pretend radio music!  HA!  I love it!!!

They tried out every car on the shelf!!  Literally!!!

Mallory had a blast!

All 3 kiddos in Jack's car!

So, the next time you have some time to kill and need a place for your kids to play without spending any money, I highly recommend these two locations!  There's no doubt they'll be asking to do this again soon!  :-)

Kindergarten Blues, Jack's 2nd Birthday, and Patriotic Pillow Pet Winner!!

Where has our summer gone?  The 3-digit temperatures sure say it's summer, but the back-to-school clock is ticking!  I am getting ready to have a Kindergartener!!!  I can't believe my baby is old enough to be away from me ALL DAY LONG!  Oh my goodness!  This Mama just ain't ready yet.

And, she's excited, but is very apprehensive, too.  It's going to be a big change for all of our family, but I really think it's going to be hardest on Jack.  That little guy is in love with his big sister!!!

Jack turned 2 at the end of July.  He's talking up a storm and he loves to sing!!!  It's so precious to hear him sing along with me and Mallory in the car.  He definitely has a southern drawl... don't know where in the world he got that from. ;-)  One of the cutest things he says is, "I'm a boy."  But, it doesn't just sound simple like that.  Instead, the word "boy" has about 3 syllables!  "I'm a boyyyyeeee".  He drags it out LONG!! :-)   LOL!  We celebrated his birthday with a cars theme party for all of our family. It was fun, simple, and perfect for a two-year-old's attention span.  :-)

The kids played with balloons and cars until it was time for cake and presents.

Mallory and Cousin Micah - what a pair!!!

Jack blew out his candles (with a little help).  :-)

Time is just flying by.  I can't believe my baby is two!

Well, onto some exciting news!!!  One of you is the winner of my Patriotic Pillow Pet Giveaway!!!!  YAY!!!

Congratulations to Hannah of Life Happens!!!!

Many thanks to all of you who entered.  I know how excited I get when I win a giveaway!  Always come back because there's always something in the works!  And, just because you win once on my blog doesn't mean you can't win again.  So, keep entering!!  You just never know when you'll be the big winner!!!
