Six Flags, Shopping, and a Weekend of Fun!

This weekend, we (all 17 of us) headed to Dallas for our "summer" vacation.  The guys all went to The Colonial Open while the girls and the kids shopped.

Mallory always enjoys trying on hats!

It's a hoot when all the "big" kids walk hand-in-hand through the stores!  Here Kristin has Jack, Grant, Mallory, and Micah and she's pushing Gavin in the stroller.... needless to say, she got some interesting looks!! HA!  The kids are always so good, so that is a HUGE blessing!

That night we me the guys for dinner at Pappadeaux's.  Can you blame me for not taking out my camera???  I was too busy gobbling down the food!!!  :-)

After a great night's sleep, the kids all swam at the hotel.  That was a highlight for them, but unfortunately Jack erased all the pictures of it from my phone.  I'll have to post some of my sister's pics later.

Later that afternoon, we took off for Fuddruckers and then SIX FLAGS!!!!  This was definitely the highlight of the trip.  We all had a blast!  We all wore red Old Navy t-shirts.  I'll post our group picture later - it's also on my sister's camera!

Mallory and Jack at the entrance.  Mallory hadn't been here since she was Jack's age!

Cousin Grant and Mallory

Jack and Brad on the carousel.

This was Jack's FAVORITE ride!!!  He loved driving the trucks!!!

There they go around the track!

The spinning cups were fun for Mallory, Micah, Grant, and Jack.

Everyone loved the ferris wheel.  Here is Chad with Scarlett.

After much hesitation, Mallory and I rode the ferris wheel with Jack and Brad.  Can you tell it was a humid day!?!?!

Jack and Brad on the ferris wheel

Mallory rode the "kiddie" roller coaster with Brad.  He LOVES roller coasters...

She found out rather quickly that she DOESN'T!!!  Here they are coming off the roller coaster.  She's got a pretty firm grip on his arm!

The swings were a hit for almost all the kids...even baby Gavin and little Macy rode the swings!!!

Don't ya love our line up?!?!  Jack HATED the swings!  The pic above is BEFORE it started moving.  He and I were BOTH crying after it started.  I've never been so heartbroken!  He was screaming and sobbing  for me to get him off!!!  "IT'S TOO FAST, MAMA!!!  GET ME OFF!!!"

Here's Mallory getting ready to take-off in her airplane - another fun ride!

We all rode the big train around the park - Jack really enjoyed that!  Then, we ended our day in the big chair.

SUPER FUN!!!!  Needless to say, the kids slept great that night... well, we all did!!!
The guys played golf together on the way home and we girls got in a little more shopping.

My little sweetness had all he could take.  :-)

We all had a wonderful weekend!!!  Thank you, Nana and Papa, for an incredible time!!!

When I Grow Up...

This week is Career Week at Mallory's school.  Today all the kids were supposed to dress up like what they want to be when they grow up.  When we found out about this dress up day last week, Mallory immediately knew what she wanted to be... a Mommy!!!  I couldn't have been more pleased and honored by her choice.  She spent all afternoon yesterday picking out what she wanted to take with her...  Of course every mommy needs her own purse filled with money, keys, lipstick, a cell phone, and coupons.  And, she needs to have a diaper bag filled with a bottle, diapers, wipes, a pacifier, and rattle.  Then, of course, you have to have a baby!  She chose to wear her own clothes but added her monogrammed apron!  Here's what Mallory looked like this morning...

Oh, and ya'll remember her pal Andy???  Just guess what he showed up looking like???
A PREACHER!!!  With Bible in hand!!!  :-)
I'm beginning to like that little guy a little more!  HA!

New Bar Stools!!!

Ya'll, I am so blessed!!!  Let me just tell ya about something GREAT that I received.  As a CSN Stores Preferred Blogger, I was given the opportunity to review a product of my choice.  Well, that might sound easy, but with over 200+ stores to choose from and thousands of different products, it was TOUGH!!!  I wanted it ALL!  :-)  I finally made my decision and it arrived TODAY!!!

I decided to try out these bar stools.  That was one of the things I was lacking in our new home, but I worried about buying something like that without seeing them first and having the ability to test them out.  OH MY!  I LOVE THEM!!!  They came as a set of two, already assembled... woo-hoo!  I just pulled them out of the box and set them at the bar.
I couldn't be more pleased!  They are the perfect height and perfect color!  I couldn't believe how well they matched the stained wood in my kitchen.  I wanted something very sturdy since I have two little ones that will be sitting on them often.  I didn't want anything that could turn over easily.  These are very nice quality wood and are very well made.  I will feel comfortable with the kids sitting on them.

And they're comfortable!  I love the tightly woven wicker seats.  I should have known I would love them!  EVERYTHING I've ever gotten from CSN Stores has been exceptional!  And, their customer service and delivery speed is unmatched.  Free shipping is available on most all of their products, too!  :-)  My bar stools shipped for FREE!!!

Thank you, CSN Stores!!!!  I LOVE them!!!
Thanks for allowing me to work with you!
It's been a blessing!!!

New Kitchen and Office Window Treatments plus accessories!!!

When we moved into this house about 2 1/2 months ago, I had planned to leave the windows in the kitchen completely bare.  They were beautifully framed out with stained wood and I loved the way they looked!!!  But, last night, I was digging through my stash of old window treatments and tablecloths that I had custom made for homes we once lived in.  I came across the balloon curtains my Nanny had made for my very first home 11 years ago.  My Nanny was an incredible seamstress!  I brought them out and couldn't believe how well they went with the wallpaper in this kitchen.  If you remember, the wallpaper in my kitchen was original to the house and I wasn't a big fan of it.  But, since it was going to cost WAY more than we could afford to have it taken down, textured, and painted, I decided to live with it ~ for now.  :-)  So, back to the window... I pulled the curtains out and did some measuring.... I started getting excited when I figured they would fit on these kitchen windows, too!!!

Here are some before and after photos....

After

Here is an upclose view of one of the balloon panels.  I am just amazed at how the colors and patterns match each other.  And ya know what?  I don't dislike that wallpaper near as much. ;-)

I was so pleased with the outcome and how warm those curtains made the kitchen, I decided to keep searching my stash to see what else I might find!  When I found the curtains I had made for my master bedroom and bath for our first home, I knew they would be perfect in my office!!!  The red toile was definitely in style and matched the wallcolor perfectly!  Here are some before and after photos...

 After!!!

Red toile curtains lined with red check

My Nanny had made this chair cushion for my mom and it fit perfectly in my rocking chair!!!

I made this stool years ago and had been using it in my bathroom.  It looks much better in here with the new toile theme!

I re-covered the seat of this desk chair in toile fabric.

And I added these toile plates and framed verse above my desk.

Here's a look at my computer desk and sewing  area with their new accessories!

And a look from the door as you enter the room...
It really came together!!

Oh, and I got this lamp at Kirklands!  It was on sale for $29.99, but I used a coupon and got 15% off!!!  Woo-hoo!!!!  With the little swivel light, it is perfect for my work area!!!

And finally, I brought in this clock that I was using in my bathroom.  It's supposed to have photos in it, but I put some red toile fabric in the picture spots instead.

So, what do you think???  I just love re-using and re-purposing old things.
