Mallory's teacher has a discipline system that I love! It works very similar to a stop light. All the children have a clothespin that starts on green and remains there if they follow the rules and participate. Any child who disobeys or breaks a rule is is moved to yellow and then to red if the behavior continues. Once a child gets on red, their parents are called! Mallory has come home telling us a few times of the children who've gotten moved to red and how awful it is. Well, the neat thing about this discipline system is that it not only punishes those who have bad behavior, but it rewards those who exceed the teacher's expectations. If a student goes above and beyond to obey, participate, and help others, they are moved up to blue and given a "Whale Done" stamp in their notebook. This is a huge reward and is only given to those students who really deserve it. Until yesterday, no one in her class had been moved up.
Yesterday, when I picked Mallory up, she was overly excited and couldn't wait to tell me that she had been moved up to the Whale Done blue!!!! YEA! We are so proud of her! Here she is at home after her big day! Nana made her outfit and I just love it!!
YEA, MALLORY!!!
